ORLANDO Johnson and Kim Jiwan have been around, but the two swear they've never experienced the kind of adulation they're receiving from Barangay Ginebra fans.
“No, (I) never have (experienced this before),” said Johnson, who has played for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA, among other teams. “This is very special here, I’m glad that I came out here and I’m glad that I became a part o this.
“I’m having a great time out here definitely. I’m coming back for a visit,” he added during an appearance in Ginebra's fans day on Thursday night at the Belagio Square in Ermita, Manila.
“I appreciate everything they’ve done from the gifts to the support.”
Kim said he has struggled to get used to the humid Manila weather, but is glad to know that the reception from Ginebra fans has been just as warm.
“It’s hot weather but I'm already getting used to it. Everything is really good - nice people, nice country - and I'm really appreciative,” said Kim through an interpreter.
The South Korean hotshot said his impressive performance in Ginebra's 120-98 win over Barako Bull last Wednesday was his way of giving back to the fans.
“Of course the fans here are really giving me a warm welcome so it’s time for me to show his performance in the last game and this team can advance to the playoffs,” he added.
