Once traded for each other, Romeo and Tautuaa now teammates at SMB

    Oct 15, 2019

WASN'T it just last year when then NorthPort star Terrence Romeo was shipped to TNT in a trade that also involved Mo Tautuaa?

Eighteen months later and the two found themselves on the same team.

"God works mysteriously, man," remarked Tautuaa, who was shipped from NorthPort to San Miguel in exchange for Christian Standhardinger on Monday.

The Fil-Tongan banger was sent to the Batang Pier alongside a pair of picks in exchange for the three-time scoring champion out of Far Eastern University and Yousef Taha back in April 2018.

Only Taha remains with the KaTropa from that deal.

Romeo, who was later sent to the Beermen before the season started, said he has come to understand that trades are all part of the business and truly in this industry, you can never say never.

But this won't be the first time that Tautuaa and Romeo will be teammates as they both wore the national team colors in Gilas Pilipinas' silver medal finish in the 2015 Jones Cup.

Tautuaa said the feeling is mutual.

"We have our chemistry. We know each other and we kind of have an idea of how each other plays," Tautuaa said.

They would need just that, and probably more, as they hope to dial that partnership back up for this Beermen grand slam chase.

Yet Romeo isn't doubting the capabilities of Tautuaa as the latter embarks on this new journey to his basketball career.

"Alam niya yung role niya at 'yun ang importante," he said.

And this early, it seems like Tautuaa really does.

"Like him and me, we're just another piece to a giant picture and we're just both trying to complete that picture," he said. "He's gonna adapt to me, I'll adapt to him and that's how it's gonna work."
