RAYMOND Almazan has yet to impress in his first season in the pros, but Rain or Shine teammate Beau Belga has no doubt in his mind that the gangling rookie will prove his true worth in no time.
The former Letran star is averaging 3.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 15.4 minutes in five games as a pro - decent numbers for a rookie but below expectations for a player picked at No. 3 overall in the last draft.
They Said It!
“Humihingi rin sya ng advice sa akin, as a teammate, siyempre di ko naman siya tuturuan ng mali. At maganda sa kanya, willing siyang matuto." - Rain or Shine center Beau Belga on helping rookie teammate Raymond Almazan
Belga, however, believes things are bound to turn around for the 6-7 slotman because he works hard in practice, listens to advice, and remains a "student of the game."
"Nakikinig naman sya eh. Humihingi rin sya ng advice sa akin," he said. "Eh as a teammate, siyempre di ko naman siya tuturuan ng mali. At maganda sa kanya, willing siyang matuto."
The increased playing time will follow for Almazan once he gets the full trust and confidence of Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao, Belga added.
"When it comes to playing time, di na hawak ni coach iyan kasi as long as maganda ang laro mo, stay ka sa loob," the 6-6 Belga shared to Spin.ph after team's practice on Friday. "Yan naman lagi ang patakaran sa team."
