NORMAN Black said he understands the it's the prerogative of Jared Dillinger as an unrestricted free agent to sign with another team.
As shocked as he was on Dillinger’s decision to fly the coop and sign with Barangay Ginebra following the Bolts’ decision to put him on the unrestricted free agent list, Black said there’s no need to cry over spilt milk.
“It’s his prerogative. It’s unrestricted free agent and basically he can do what he wants to do,” said Black of the 35-year-old Fil-Am guard, who was with Meralco the past six years until his surprise transfer to the Kings on Friday.
“But like I said it’s his choice. We move on. I’ll just develop some of the younger guys.”
By younger guys, Black specifically referred to rookie Bong Quinto and rising forward Nico Salva.
“Bong Quinto will have his opportunity to develop and some of the other young kids like Nico Salva.”
At the same time, Black was grateful for the time Dillinger spent with the Bolts, with who he played in back-to-back finals appearances during the 2016 and 2017 Governors Cup opposite Barangay Ginebra.
“I want to thank him for his services with Meralco and I wish him the best of luck,” said the grand slam coach.
