AFTER leaving College of St. Benilde, Fruitas hotshot Carlo Lastimosa swears he’s finished with his collegiate career and is now looking to turn pro next year.
The 2010 NCAA Rookie of the Year, who played for the Blazers for three years, stressed he won’t be playing for any other school in the coming seasons of both the UAAP and NCAA.
“Definitely hindi na ako maglalaro ever sa kahit anong school,” said Lastimosa after the game of Fruitas in the PBA D-League on Tuesday at San Juan Arena.
The Cagayan de Oro native has already set his goal of making a name for himself in the D-League in preparation for a possible career in the PBA.
“Basta aayusin ko ngayong conference at baka magpa-draft na ako sa PBA,” he said.
The nephew of PBA great Jojo Lastimosa affirmed that his decision is final as he and his family had already talked about the matter.
“Nakausap ko na sila,” said the young gunner referring to his uncle Jolas and father Danny, who also played in the amateur leagues during his heydays.
“Andyan naman sila palagi para sa akin nag-ga-guide sa akin. Alam naman nila for the better ang decision ko,” he added.
Lastimosa finished with 16 points to go with five assists and two steals in Fruitas’ 81-56 rout of Jumbo Plastic in the Foundation Cup opener.
