TnT Katropa is keeping the core of its team which last reached the PBA Finals after signing four veterans to fresh deals before the season could end.
Troy Rosario and former MVP Kelly Williams renewed their contracts with the franchise, as did veteran guard Ryan Reyes and wingman Anthony Semerad.
Rosario signed a three-year deal with the team that tabbed him No. 2 overall in the 2015 rookie draft while the 36-year-old Williams, the 2008 league MVP who remains a steady inside force for the Katropa, agreed to a new two-year term.
Reyes meanwhile, settled for a one-year deal, even as Semerad managed to get a three-year contract.
Semerad however, will be missing a few games in the ongoing Governors Cup as he’s set to undergo procedure to remove bones spurs on his shooting elbow.
Earlier, TnT agreed to a two-year contract extension of franchise player Jayson Castro, which guaranteed his stay with the franchise until 2021. His previous three-year contract is set to expire next season.
All five played with the team that finished runner-up to San Miguel in the 2017 Commissioner’s Cup. It was the last time the Katropa reached the finals.
Terms of the deal were not made available.
TnT is currently on a three-game winning streak – two of them under new coach Bong Ravena and consultant Mark Dickel – to even its record at 4-4. It won’t see action again until Oct. 20 when it tackles San Miguel Beer in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
