No hint of surrender in Calvin Abueva's voice as Alaska stares at 0-3 deficit

ALASKA star Calvin Abueva is not giving up - not now, not ever.

Just minutes after Alaska dropped a 108-112 defeat at the hands of Rain or Shine to fall behind 0-3 in the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals, there was still no hint of surrender in the defiant Aces star's voice.

“Zero-three, patay, last chance sa Friday,” said Abueva, stopping for a moment while on his way to the life-sized crucifix at the walkway of the Smart Aranerta Coliseum.

“Game Four laban pa, walang sukuan,” he added.

Abueva finished with 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the Game Three loss, but left the game on fouls in the fourth quarter on a questionable call.

The frontrunner in the Best Player of the Conference race knows Alaska is left with a mountain to climb, but also knows too well that a comeback from a 0-3 deficit is not impossible.

Alaska blew such a deficit in San Miguel's march to the Philippine Cup title.

“Kung magagawa (bakit hindi),” he said. “(Pero) syempre, depende naman sa amin ‘yun kung may gana pa ba sa Game Four o wala na.”

Still, he warned Alaska won't stand a chance if it plays as badly as it did on Wednesday night.

“Baka mamaya mangyari na naman ‘to, mangyari na naman sa atin ‘yung nangyari last conference, kaya syempre mas pag-iigihin pa namin ang depensa namin sa susunod,” he said.
