JAMES Yap fired blanks anew in Rain or Shine's 87-92 loss at the hands of Blackwater in the PBA Governor's Cup on Friday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Coming off a scoreless outing in their opener, Yap started the game for the Elasto Painters but couldn't find his rhythm anew as he finished with just five points on 2-of-12 shooting in 15 minutes on the floor.
Yap admits he is still not in top shape after suffering from muscle spasms the past few days.
"Focus muna, pakundisyon muna ulit cause medyo out of shape pa. Siguro pang-walo ko na na practice sa team pero kulang pa. Wala pa masyadong timing," said the two-time league MVP.
Yap admitted he's no longer bothered by the injury and it's all a matter of regaining his form.
"Okay naman na. Ginamit naman ako ni coach pero wala pa talaga sa timing. Masama lang. Feeling ko sobrang sama talaga ng laro ko," said the former University of the East star.
"Ganun talaga, pag masama ang laro, isipin mo dapat kung ano yung kulang, dagdagan ang conditioning at kalimutan na ito. Kasi kung lagi mong iisipin to, hindi siya makakatulong."
With the league going on a long New Year's break, Yap is confident he can use the time to get back in top shape - so long as he stays disciplined.
"For me makakatulong to. Hindi lang dapat magpapabaya," he said. "Wag lang kumain ng kumain ng lechon. Tuloy lang ang workout."
