THE possible scenario of the PBA board not holding its annual planning session as scheduled looms after a number of team representatives failed to make the five-day trip to Los Angeles.
The 12-man board left for the U.S. Friday night without board members of TnT Katropa, Rain or Shine, and Phoenix.
TnT's Ricky Vargas and Al Panlilio of Meralco are currently in Geneva attending the Philippines' bidding and hosting of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, while the others not around have both personal and business matters to attend to.
It's not certain either if incoming chairman Ramoncito Fernandez of NLEX will also make the trip as he wasn't with the group that boarded Philippine Airlines flight PR 102 bound for LA.
In their absence, the board's annual planning session is in danger of not being held, which could mean stretching the current leadership impasse in the league.
The board initially planned to tackle the issue of whether commissioner Chito Narvasa should stay or not during the U.S. session.
SPIN.ph later learned Fernandez could likely make it to LA by Monday at the latest.
As of last count, joining the trip are SMC's Robert Non and Rene Pardo (Star), Siliman Sy of Blackwater, Bobby Rosales of KIA and Ryan Gregorio who is representing Meralco.
Already travelling to the US ahead of the group are Ginebra's Alfrancis Chua, Dickie Bachmann of Alaska, and Eric Arejola of Globalport.
