MAVERICK Ahanmisi is grateful to Barangay Ginebra management for heeding his request for a trade which he believes will help him resuscitate his confidence and playing career in the PBA.
Ahanmisi on Wednesday bid goodbye to the Gin Kings after being dealt to Terrafirma along with Aljon Mariano for the Dyip's first round pick in the Season 51 Draft.

“This is a discussion I had with coach Tim [Cone] and why I asked for this is because I feel I am still in my prime, and I don’t want to put that into waste as I get older,” said the Fil-Nigerian guard.
“It’s something that I feel I still have a lot to give. And as the years go by, maybe when I’m 37, 38, or 39, then maybe I can start slowing down. But right now I just feel I still have a lot to give.”
Maverick a Ka-Barangay, still
Ahanmisi showed his support to Ginebra when he sat at ringside of the Smart Araneta Coliseum and watched the Gin Kings register their first win of Season 50 Philippine Cup by demolishing TNT, 92-77.

He still exchanged pleasantries with his former teammates after the game, as he stressed everything is good between him and his now-ex-squad.
“No bad blood between us. That’s why you see me here. I’m still supporting the guys and I’m happy about it,” said the 34-year-old Ahanmisi, who suited up for Ginebra for two seasons.
“Before even they heard about the news, I messaged the guys and they know everything that has been going on, why I asked that stuff,” he added. “Like I said, there’s no bad blood between me and none of those dudes in that locker room. But this is just something I needed to do for me and my family.”
Ahanmisi joined Terrafirma in practice for the first time on Thursday, as he teams up with brother Jerrick for the first time in their careers.

And that wouldn’t have been possible if not for the Gin Kings letting him go by consenting to his trade request.
“I appreciate boss Al [Chua] and management and coach Tim, that’s what I asked for. And they gave me that,” he said.
