ON a four-game winning run, NLEX will even have an added help coming in the way of its PBA Philippine Cup campaign.
Former 3x3 national team player Jorey Napoles is being considered for promotion to the Road Warriors lineup by next week when they battle the TNT Tropang Giga in Candon, Ilocos Sur.
Napoles practicing with NLEX
A team insider said Napoles has already been practicing with NLEX the past couple of weeks and could be included in the team’s 5-on-5 roster as the Road Warriors begin the second half of their elimination round campaign.
“Yan ang balak na i-aakyat siya sa game against TNT. Kasi malalaki rin yung kalaban, kaya makakatulong din si Jorey,” said the same source.
Napoles has donned the Cavitex jersey in the PBA 3x3 for the past two years.
Before that, he played for Limitless App also in the same half-court tournament of the league, a stint which later led to him playing with the Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 team that bagged the bronze medal in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
Napoles played for Phoenix
If ever, this marks the return of Napolis in the 5-on-5 game after previously suiting up for Phoenix from 2019-2020 as the team’s first-round pick (no. 12 overall) during the 2018 draft.
Napoles is the first-ever player to be picked in the first round from the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP).
Napoles coming on board couldn’t come at a better time for the Road Warriors, who are currently in solo second place with a 5-1 record following their stunning 87-74 win over Magnolia Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
