NLEX is enforcing its own strict health protocols within the team.

And one of the tools in the Road Warriors' new normal is a shooting machine at their own training facility at the FCL Building in Xavierville.

NLEX Corp. Assistant Vice President Ronald Dulatre was the first to try the device as he briefly did some shooting by his lonesome at the gym exclusively for the use of the Road Warriors.

“Sinubukan muna natin while were trying to prepare the team facility once team workout begins,” said Dulatre.

The machine, according to Dulatre, was lent to the team by NLEX guard Kiefer Ravena.

“Kay Kiefer yan, pinahiram muna sa team,” added the team executive.

The machine should come in handy especially with only four players allowed to practice by batches inside the gym as per the PBA guidelines approved by the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases).

The Road Warriors don’t see anything wrong applying a shooting machine as part of the team health protocols.

“Ang sa amin mas mahigpit pa,” stressed coach Yeng Guiao. “Puwede naman eh, basta ang importante lang huwag nating babawasan yung standard ng PBA.”

“Puwede mong dagdagan. We formulated this before pa tayo binigyan ng guidance ng PBA.”

Aside from having its own exclusively playing court, the Road Warriors also have a weights gym at the FCL Building.

“Suwerte kami sa NLEX kasi yung venue namin sa FCL Building exclusive namin,” said Guiao.

Workouts by PBA teams could finally get going within the week as the Joint Administrative Order (JAO) prepared by the Department of Health, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), and the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) is expected to be released at the most by Monday.

GAB chairman Baham Mitra said he anticipates teams not only from the PBA but also those from the Philippine Football League (PFL) to start working out this week.

“Siguro Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday practice na yan,” said Mitra.
