NLEX and San Miguel loom as the teams that have a best chance at securing twice-to-beat advantage in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals, based on their remaining games in the eliminations.

The Road Warriors are currently in a tie with Magnolia for first place on 7-2 win-loss records ahead of their match-up on Friday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

SCENARIOS: Meralco gaining twice-to-beat looks next to impossible

The Beermen sit at third place with a 6-2 mark heading into the final days of the elimination round that includes an out-of-town game for the traditional Philippine Cup title contender.

Magnolia, Barangay Ginebra, Rain or Shine, TNT, and Converge are also in contention for the four twice-to-beat incentives in the quarterfinals.

While defending champion Meralco faces a daunting road to a Top 4 spot, But looking at their remaining schedule, NLEX and San Miguel may have the easiest path to win No. 8, which should be enough for a twice-to-beat advantage.

The Road Warriors will still meet the Hotshots on Friday, and if ever they fail to win, they still have a game against a team that is no longer in contention for a playoff berth in NorthPort on June 11.

Although they still have Rain or Shine on Saturday and Converge on June 11, the Beermen also have a NorthPort game on their schedule which will come on the final day of eliminations at June 15.

The remaining games of NLEX and SMB remain favorable compared to the schedules that Magnolia, Ginebra, Rain or Shine, and TNT face.

Aside from NLEX, Magnolia is still facing TNT on June 13 making the Friday contest against the Road Warriors an important one for their twice-to-beat aspirations.

Barangay Ginebra also has TNT on its slate on Sunday, and still has Rain or Shine on its schedule on June 15.

Rain or Shine has San Miguel on Saturday before that Barangay Ginebra game.

But given the favorable schedules, NLEX and San Miguel must take care of business in order for them to secure the quarterfinal incentive.
