NLEX has installed former NBA player Jonathon Simmons as its import for the PBA Governors’ Cup.
The 33-year-old Simmons had experience playing for the San Antonio Spurs, Orlando Magic, and the Philadelphia 76ers.

While he was with the Spurs organization, Simmons won the championship game MVP when he helped San Antonio beat Phoenix in the Las Vegas Summer League.
Listed at 6-foot-6, Simmons recently suited up for the Shanxi Loongs in China.
NLEX looks to bounce back from its Commissioner’s Cup campaign where they missed the playoffs after a loss to Rain or Shine in the battle for the No. 8 seed in the quarterfinals.
Last season, the Road Warriors had a solid showing in the Governors’ Cup, reaching the semifinals before bowing to eventual champion Barangay Ginebra.
In that conference, KJ McDaniels played for the Road Warriors but the ballclub was forced to make a change entering the playoffs with McDaniels going back home as his partner was about to give birth during that time.
McDaniels will no longer return to NLEX as he was signed by Meralco as early as the Commissioner’s Cup.
