NLEX in talks with first-choice import Tony Mitchell to replace Curtis Washington

NLEX seriously considering tapping Tony Mitchell as new import
    May 23, 2019

TONY Mitchell coming on board for NLEX in the PBA Commissioner's Cup remains a possibility.

Coach Yeng Guiao disclosed management has been in constant communication with the camp of Mitchell, who the Road Warriors learned is currently in the country.

"I think Tony Mitchell is around also. So there's that choice or option to still bring him in. Andito naman yata siya sa Pilipinas. Nabalitaan lang namin," said Guiao in the aftermath of the Road Warriors' 102-87 debut loss against the TnT Katropa in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday night.

"So were looking at that option now, and we are seriously considering that option."

Mitchell's name propped up once again following the 15-point loss to TnT at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Replacement import Curtis Washington came through with 18 points and 16 rebounds, but not enough to propel the Road Warriors to victory.

Washington came in after Mitchell failed to show up just before the start of the conference.

"He (Mitchell) had some problems coming in so we had to get a quick replacement," said Guiao.

Also on NLEX's radar is former import Arnett Moultrie although he won't be available until his playing contract in Estonia is over.

"So Mitchell is really the best option right now," stressed Guiao.

NLEX has a game on Saturday against NorthPort although Guiao is uncertain if the team can field Mitchell by that time.
