MACAU – NLEX had no answer for the barrage of threes ETLand Elephants dropped as it suffered a 75-60 defeat in the Asia League Super 8 on Wednesday at Macao East Asian Games Dome here.
Park Bong Jin triggered the third-quarter breakaway of ETLand Elephants, scoring eight of his 10 points to help the Korean side build a 12-point edge, 45-33 with 6:11 left in the period.
That stellar third quarter gave ETLand all the confidence it needed to further hammer NLEX in the fourth quarter, where it held a lead as high as 23, 75-52 following a triple from Kim Jung Nyeon.
The Elephants were scorching hot from downtown as they made 15 of their 36 long bombs, in contrast to the Road Warriors’ woeful 4-of-13 clip.
Mac Tallo came off the bench and led NLEX with 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while JR Quinahan and Jansen Rios both had nine in the losing cause.
Park Sung Jin topscored for ETLand (2-0) with 14 points and three rebounds, while Kak Nak Hyeon and Jeong Hyo Geun combined for 22.
NLEX (1-1) plays Chinese squad Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers for its final Group A assignment on Thursday, with the winner advancing to the crossover semifinals.
