    NLEX reaches Super 8 semis, but Blackwater exits due to quotient

    MACAU – Filipino teams came out victorious in the final day of pool play in the Asia League Super 8 2018 here, but only NLEX progressed to the corssover semifinals, scheduled on Saturday.

    The Road Warriors finished second in Group A after their 88-78 upset of Xinjiang Flying Tigers.

    Korean club ETLand Elephants ruled the group with their unscathed 3-0 record after three games.

    Meanwhile, Blackwater suffered a heartbreaker, finishing third in Group B after the tiebreak.

    Guangzhou Long Lions and Seoul Samsung Thunders were locked up in a three-way tie with the Elite at 1-2, but the Filipino side lost due to inferior quotient after finishing with a minus-8.

    Complications could have been averted had Guangzhou triumphed over Seoul, but the Thunders took the 78-73 win over the Long Lions in the nightcap.

    NLEX now braces for Guangzhou in the 7 p.m. semifinals, following the all-Korean duel between ETLand and Seoul Samsung at 5 p.m., still at Macao East Asian Games Dome.
