NLEX is now scrambling for a new import due to former NBA player Ed Davis' unavailability at the last minute for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
A sensitive, personal matter prompted the 35-year-old Davis, who spent 12 years playing in the NBA, to no longer pursue his stint with the Road Warriors in what would have been his first time playing in Asia’s first ever play-for-pay league.

The 6-foot-9 American, who won an NCAA championship with North Carolina in 2009, opted to be with his wife and family at the moment, SPIN.ph learned from NLEX insiders.
Davis’ first foray in the PBA is one of the highly-anticipated episodes for the midseason conference set to kick off on Nov. 27.

He had extensive experience in the NBA where he suited up for teams such as Toronto, Memphis, LA Lakers, Portland, Brooklyn, Utah, Minnesota, and Cleveland.
Davis and TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson even played together with the Nets during the 2018-2019 season.
What's next for NLEX?
With Davis out of the equation, the Road Warriors are currently burning the lines for a replacement who would be available on short notice with just nine days to go before the second conference gets underway.
NLEX sources mentioned to SPIN.ph earlier that another former NBA veteran and ex-US men’s national team member Kenneth Faried is being considered for the job.
But the 6-foot-8 rebounding whiz, a member of the US squad that won the gold medal in the 2014 FIBA World Cup, is still playing in Mexico where his team, Soles de Mexicali, is currently seeing action in the semifinals.
Incidentally, Faried, also known by his moniker ‘The Manimal,’ was also a teammate of Davis and Hollis-Jefferson at Brooklyn.
