THE 99-95 overtime win by Magnolia over NLEX on Friday night spoiled a momentous moment for shooting guard Robert Bolick.
The fiery gunner pulled off the first-ever five-point play in a regular PBA game on Friday night which he did late in the extra period of the Road Warriors’ Commissioner’s Cup game against the Magnolia Hotshots at the Philsports Arena.

Incidentally, he was also the first player to achieve the feat but in the All-Star Game last March in Bacolod. The clutch play helped Team Mark Barroca force a 140-140 deadlock against Team Japeth Aguilar.
Bolick, 32, drained a four-point shot with 55.5 seconds left and was fouled in the process by Magnolia rookie Jerom Lastimosa. He sank the bonus free throw to pull off the historic play and give NLEX a 95-94 lead.
But Mark Barroca was quick to spoil the moment as he put Magnolia back on top again behind a gutsy drive, never to relinquish the lead anew.
Bolick went for another four-point shot in NLEX’s final play, but his heave from near midcourt fell just short as the Road Warriors suffered a third straight loss and saw their record fall to 3-4.

He finished with a game-high 28 points, but was 1-of-6 from the four-point line and 2-of-8 from long distance.
“Wala. Talo. 3-4,” said Bolick just as he was about to be asked about that historic five-point play.
