Robinson, drafted No. 5 in the 2012 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings, was supposed to play for the Beermen in the 2022-23 Commissioner’s Cup but was later replaced due to a back issue.
NLEX coach Frankie Lim said the Road Warriors didn’t require a release from the Beermen as he wasn’t able to play for the team.
Lim said Robinson looks healthy now following his stint in Puerto Rico.
NLEX has recruited another former NBA player following the likes of KJ McDaniels, Earl Clark, and Jonathon Simmons.
“I still have to see him here, then I can make my assessment. Hangga’t wala dito, your guess is as good as mine,” said Lim at the sidelines of the PBA Draft Combine.
“Although I saw some game tapes sa Puerto Rico. Nandito pero hindi nilaro kasi may injury. But he lasted in Puerto Rico, tinapos niya ang buong season without injuries. I think he is okay,” said Lim of Robinson, who is listed at 6-foot-10.
The 32-year-old Robinson will arrive to the country at the end of the month.
