NLEX formally welcomed coach Yeng Guiao to its squad, convinced the champion coach will steer the Road Warriors in making the jump to a title-caliber team in the PBA.
Guiao recently signed a three-year deal that completed his move from a Rain or Shine side he transformed to a champion team.
“With his championship experience and passion for the sport, we are certain that coach Yeng will take our team to the next level,” NLEX governor Mon Fernandez said in a statement sent to media outlets on Friday.
“We look forward to a very fruitful and dynamic partnership, not only in the field of basketball, but also in the socio-economic programs of our company,” he added as Guiao, a longtime politician, is also set to be involved in the company’s corporate social responsibility activities.
Guiao takes over from Boyet Fernandez, who looks like he will stay on, although in another capacity.
“We thank coach Boyet for his valuable contributions to our team, including the record six PBA D-League championships that we won. He developed the Road Warriors to a competitive team,” the statement said.
“We want him to continue to play a role in the basketball activities of our group.”
