THE team manager of NLEX expressed optimism the franchise will pass the scrutiny of the PBA board over the financial capabilities of Metro Pacific Investments, which is bidding to join the pro league when it ushers its 40th season.

Ronald Dulatre has already submitted the financial background of the firm made up of companies that provide services, among them Maynilad, St. Luke’s Hospital, and NLEX to name a few.

“In terms of financial aspect, wala kaming worry. Yung next aspect naman, makuha lang namin 'yung approval ng PBA board, then yung concession will follow,” said the soft-spoken manager of the most successful team in PBA D-League history.

On Monday, NLEX together with the two other applicants in Kia Motors and Blackwater Sports will meet with league commissioner Chito Salud separately to answer final questions by the league before a decision is made on their applications by the board.

“Mostly kasi yung meeting more on financial aspect. They just want to validate what we have submitted, our financial statement for the past three years,” said Dulatre.

“In terms of net income and asset, i-va-validate lahat yan.”

Asked if he thinks Metro Pacific is capable of becoming a legitimate team member in the league for a longer period of time, Dulatre was confident.

“Let’s not talk about figures na lang. But that’s Metro Pacific Investments kasi so that’s in billions. Parent company yan eh,” said the youthful team official.

“Wala akong nakikitang problem para hindi kami ma-approve (sa financial aspect),” added Dulatre.

Meanwhile, PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial told Spin.ph the meetings on Monday will have Salud and his technical team seeking other details for submission to the board for perusal.

“Kakausapin lang naman sila tapos tatanungin ng ilan. Kasi 'yan na 'yung isa-submit sa board eh,” said Marcial, who revealed the decision on the application of the three companies might be acted upon by the board next month.

“By April 'yan, made-desisyunan 'yan, kasi board ang magsasabi nyan. Pero siguro naman bago mag May alam na natin kung may bagong team,” added the amiable league official.
