NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez believes the combination of import Henry ‘Bill’ Walker and Asian reinforcement Rodrigue Akl is exactly what the Road Warriors need to break new ground in their campaign for the coming PBA Governors’ Cup.
Fernandez said he has had his sights on Walker ever since the former Miami Heat cager played for Alaska in the 2014 Governors’ Cup, and considers his new import a vital piece the Road Warriors’ title aspirations.
“The way he played was the kind of player that we need this conference. A tough defender and scorer,” said Fernandez.
On the other hand, Fernandez says the team has found a gem in the 6-foot-1 Akl, a Lebanese point guard, as they will lean on their Asian import's exemplary leadership in the season-ending conference.
“He is one of the best guards in Lebanon and I’m hoping that he can bring his leadership qualities to the team and be a role model to my guards that they can emulate that will help them improve and be better,” said Fernandez.
