LIKE Rain or Shine and Barangay Ginebra, NLEX is also tapping the services of its former import in the coming PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Road Warriors are bringing back former NBA player Dequan Jones for the third and final conference of Season 50 set to start on July 10.
NLEX team governor Ronald Dulatre confirmed that the 35-year-old University of Miami in Florida product will be arriving on Monday morning.
The former Orlando Magic and one time G. League Most Improved Player suited up for NLEX in the same conference during Season 49 as a mid-tournament replacement for Myke Henry.
He had a 3-4 record with the Road Warriors in the eliminations, good enough to power them to the playoffs where they lost to eventual champion TNT in the opening best-of-five playoffs, 3-1.
Henry will be the third returning imports confirmed for the season-ending conference after Justin Brownlee of Barangay Ginebra and Aaron Fuller of Rain or Shine.
Following his brief stint with Orlando, Jones also played in the G. League where he was once crowned as slam dunk champion.
He later took his act in Italy, Japan, France, China, and Israel.
Jones was a former teammate of Kiefer Ravena at Shiga Lakes in the B. League. The Filipino guard and former NLEX stalwart was the one who recommended to the veteran import to the team.
The import is joining an NLEX team that finished as the No. 1 seed in the Commissioner's Cup, but fell short of advancing to the semifinals after twice losing to No. 8 seed TNT in the quarterfinals.
