THE Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup is now in the homestretch of the eliminations and yet Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao only incurred his first technical foul of the season on Friday in the team’s game against Alaska.

And the fiery mentor, who holds the record for the most number of fines from technical fouls,  admitted having missed being whistled for such infraction.

“Nami-miss ko na ‘yung technical, e,” he said during the post-game interview following the Elasto Painters’ 111-105 win at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

In as much as he’s trying to avoid committing a technical foul, Guiao said it’s in his nature to complain before game officials especially if he thinks the call is questionable.

He even went to the extent of likening himself to presidential aspirant Rodrigo Duterte, who’s known for his habit of saying bad words even in public.

“Ganyan talaga ako e. Parang si Duterte,” said Guiao, drawing laughter from his audience.

“Yun talaga ako. Ang hirap tiisin.”

The Rain or Shine coach received the technical foul midway in the fourth period for continuous complaining to the referees following what he believed was a wrong non-foul on Jewel Ponferrada.

JV Casio sank the technical free throw to give Alaska a 92-90 lead.

Guiao later appeared to have regretted committing the technical.

“Although I don’t look (forward) at getting that technical foul. Iniiwasan nga natin yan, e,” he stressed.

A corresponding fine is expected to be meted on the Rain or Shine coach following his first technical foul of the conference.
