RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao dispelled rumors that import Wendell Mckines is going to be replaced.

On the day reports surfaced that former Barako Bull import Joshua Dollard is set to come in, McKines stood tall with 41 points on 15-of-25 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 from the foul line, on top of 17 boards, three assists, two blocks, and a steal for Rain or Shine.

“Walang problema ‘dun sa performance ng import. He’s giving his best. You cannot ask anything more,” said Guiao after the game against Barako Bull which the Elasto Painters lost, 103-112.

“It’s not an import problem. It’s a local problem,” Guiao said as Paul Lee emerged the only Filipino to score in twin digits for Rain or Shine with 21 points.

Mckines, who scored at least eight points in all four quarters, believes there’s still room for improvement in his game.

“We lost, so I didn’t have a great game,” the burly slotman said.

“I feel like I’m having my confidence offensively, but there are always places where you can get better,” he added. “I feel like we can stay and be more focused on the game plan, including myself.”

The Elasto Painters fell to a 1-4 record.
