Yeng Guiao admits Rain or Shine lost poise in lopsided loss to Talk 'N Text
Yeng Guiao rued Rain or Shine made just 11 assists in the loss to Talk 'N Text - less than half their 24-assist average per game this season.

RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao offered no excuses for the team’s worst loss in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup.

The Elasto Painters suffered a 95-85 setback against Talk ‘N Text on Sunday in a game that saw the league’s top assist team held to just 11 feeds.

Guiao noted Rain or Shine averaged 24 assists prior to the game, which has been the team’s strength that allowed them to stay with league leaders Alaska and defending champion San Miguel on top of the standings for most of the time.

“We led the league in assist because we move the ball really well,” said the Rain or Shine mentor. “Today we only had 11 assists which is half of our total. So the cohesion, smoothness, and the flow weren’t there.”

But the gentleman that he is, Guiao also credited TNT for coming out prepared against his team and playing good defense.

“It was brought about by the aggressiveness of their defense. A combination really of losing your patience and them making a commitment to play hard defensively (against our team),” he said.

“We lost our poise.”

Guiao also mentioned the heads-up plays made by TNT rookies Mo Tautuaa and Troy Rosario.

“We didn’t defend their big rookies hard enough,” he said. “We gave him (Rosario) too much space when he makes his jump shots.”

“First time our bigs played him (Tautuaa). Baka hind nila tantiya kung gaano kalakas ang katawan nun. So the next time we’ll make those adjustments,” he said.
