ALASKA has once again showed its 'WeNotMe' battle cry is more than just a hashtag.

Fighting as one solid unit in their ongoing campaign in the Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup, the Aces showed they're also one off the court by helping defray the heavy fines on players Calvin Abueva and Vic Manuel in the aftermath of the commotion that marred Game Two of their semifinal series against Globalport.

Abueva and Manuel were the hardest hit by the whopping fines totalling P91,200 imposed by Commissioner Chito Narvasa on erring players and officials involved in the bench-clearing incident.

The two were fined a total of P53,200 out of the P74,200 fines meted on the entire Alaska team, with Abueva the highest to be penalized at P41,600.

To alleviate their concern, Manuel said the team decided to chip in among themselves in an effort to lessen the burden on both players in paying their respective penalties.

“Sinabi sa amin nila Boss Dickie (Bachmann) and captain Tony (Dela Cruz) na pagtutulung-tulangan nila kahit papaano,” Manuel disclosed shortly after Alaska’s 82-69 win over Globalport in Game Three of the best-of-seven series Friday night at the Mall of Asia Arena.

“Nagbigay na sila para sa fine, kasi nga nagulat kami ang laki ng fine kay Calvin.”

‘The Muscle Man’ though has no idea how much money was raised, although he said whatever the remaining balance will be is still going to be shouldered by him and Abueva.

“Ewan ko kung magkano inabot, pero siyempre kulang pa rin 'yun, kaya sasagutin na namin 'yun,” he said.

“Manul admitted being surprised with the heavy fine meted out.

“Medyo malaki nga. Sayang din 'yun,” said the Alaska power forward
