Wendell McKines back to play for San Miguel in PBA Governors' Cup
Wendell McKines is set to play for his third PBA team after stints with Alaska and Rain or Shine.

THIRD time could be the charm for Wendell McKines as he’s set to reinforce San Miguel Beer in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

After failing to lead Alaska and Rain or Shine to championships in his first two stints in the league, the returning import’s chances have increased as he anchors a powerhouse Beermen side in the season-ending conference.

Team manager Gee Abanilla confirmed in a text message that they are tapping the services of McKines, an undersized big man officially measured at 6’4” 1/4 but who plays bigger than his size.

The 28-year-old McKines last played in the Korean pro league and is already in town, watching from the sidelines SMB’s last two games in the Commissioner’s Cup, last Friday against NLEX and Sunday against Ginebra.

McKines was the import of Rain or Shine when the Beermen beat the Elasto Painters in the semifinals of the 2015 PBA Governors Cup.

"He's here for our preparation para sa third conference para malaman niya yung sistema na tinatakbo namin," said SMB coach Leo Austria.

"It was a collective decision of the coaching staff, management nung nag come-up yung pangalan niya," he added. "Alam naman namin kung paano siya maglaro."
