TALK ‘N Text may be starting to stack up on its future after signing top rookies Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario to lucrative maximum contracts days after going 1-2 in the PBA Draft.

But that doesn’t mean the Tropang Texters are leaving their veterans behind.

Former league MVP Kelly Williams, Larry Fonacier, and Harvey Carey, key players of the team in past championship runs, were re-signed to separate deals this week as the trio are expected to provide experience and veteran presence to a team already gearing up for the future with the arrival of the two promising big men.

Terms of the signing were not divulge but incoming team manager Virgil Villavicencio said of the three, Williams opted to have the least year of stay after agreeing to sign for just a season.

“We were offering him two years, but he just settled for one season out of respect for management dahil nga injured siya di ba,” said Villavicencio.

The 33-year-old native of Detroit, Michigan suffered an MCL strain during Gilas Pilipinas’ first day of practice as it prepares for the Fiba-Asia Men’s Championship.

The injury cost Williams a slot in the national team, but the good news is surgery won’t be necessary, assuring the former slam dunk champion will be ready to suit up for the franchise once the new season unfolds on Oct. 18.

“Still, Kelly just went for a one-year contract. Nahihiya raw siya sa management but very grateful to them. Mabait na bata yan si Kelly,” said Villavicencio.

Fonacier, who has also battled injuries in the past, thought of security and signed a three-year deal, while Carey, the only remaining original member of the first Talk ‘N Text team that won its maiden championship in 2003, was given a two-year pact.
