TNT rookie Roger Pogoy shows grit in playing through nasty cut: 'Malayo ito sa bituka'

ANTIPOLO City - Roger Pogoy showed his warrior side as he played on and finished TnT Katropa's PBA Governors Cup game against Star Sunday despite suffering a nasty cut on his forehead.

The injury was caused by an elbow courtesy of new Hotshot import Kristofer Acox, who accidentally hit the TnT rookie late in the game at the Ynares Center here as he tried to block Pogoy's shot.

The Katropa led, 98-94, when the incident occured. They eventually won it, 104-99, behind the 43 big points of import Glen Rice Jr.

Pogoy shrugged off the injury, saying it was important for TnT to win as it tries to close in on gaining one of the top two berths in the quarterfinals.

"Malayo ito sa bituka," said Pogoy, who sport a bandage on the cut that began to swell after the game. "Maliit lang naman, pero ang lakas ng dugo kanina.

"Basta basketball, hangga't kaya ko pang maglaro, lalaro ako."

The freshman guard finished with 12 points on 5 of 12 shooting and had a pair of rebounds and assists.
