TERRENCE Romeo vowed to be an even better distributor in the coming conferences after seeing Globalport’s campaign in the PBA Philippine Cup come to an end on Monday following TNT Katropa’s sweep in their quarterfinal series.

Already having a more conscious effort to involve his teammates as he finished the elimination round averaging the second-most assists with 6.2 per game, the Batang Pier superstar said he’ll try to keep working on his ball distribution.

“Ganoon pa rin, maintain (yung pagiging distributor),” Romeo said after their 95-90 loss in Game Two on Monday night. “Kailangan mas magpa-kundisyon, mas magpalakas pa ng katawan.”

The Gilas Pilipinas rising star, though, dished out just three assists on Monday as he returned to being aggressive offensively. But it hardly bore fruit as he missed 18 of his 23 shots for a horrible 21.7-percent shooting, including a 2-of-15 clip from beyond the arc, although he still finished with 22 points, seven boards, and three steals, against five turnovers in 44 minutes.

Romeo, though, is glad that coach Franz Pumaren has always been patient amid his shortcomings.

“Sobrang thankful kami kasi sobrang haba ng pasensya sa amin ng management, ng coaching staff, lalo na si coach Franz,” the 24-year-old cager said.

“Napakagaling niyang motivator, talagang mamo-motivate ka eh,” he added. “Mas mari-reach mo pa yung mas magaling na ability mo kapag under ka kay coach Franz. Sobrang laki ng pasasalamat ko sa kanya kasi siya yung nage-encourage sa akin para maging better player.”

With Pumaren officially at the helm, the Batang Pier managed to return to the playoffs after missing out in the last two conferences.

“Siguro yung positive is kaya namin sumabay sa kahit sinong team,” Romeo said. “Laging nandoon ‘yung run na nafi-feel naming kaya namin makisabay sa kanila.”

“Ang test lagi is kung paano namin tatapusin na on a winning note,” he added. “Kumbaga dapat panalo dapat ‘yung end. Kaunti pa, kaunti pa.”
