TALK 'N Text is the most aggressive among a host of teams seeking KIA's first-pick in the next PBA rookie draft in a trade, multiple sources told

The flagship franchise of the MVP group is already possession of the No. 1 pick overall, which it acquired when it swapped first-round selections with expansion team Blackwater in a trade early in the season.

But Talk 'N Text, sources said, is also pursuing a trade for KIA's first-round rights, which would give the Tropang Texters the top two selections in a rookie pool laden with talent.

Those two selections could mean getting Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario, who can boost the frontline of a team in need of a major facelift, now that most of its top players are pushing well past 30.

One information fed to Spin,ph bared Talk 'N Text is willing to part ways with 2014 second-pick overall Kevin Louie Alas, just so the Manny V. Pangilinan franchise can get its hands on the precious KIA pick.

Another option, sources said, is a three-way trade involving sister team NLEX Road Warriors. The three-team transaction was supposed to be approved on Monday but had to go to revisions anew.

Since Meralco owns the GlobalPort first-round pick which is projected to go at No. 3, there is a good chance the MVP group will end up the top three picks in the August 23 proceedings.

However, KIA team manager Eric Pineda was quick to shoot down the Alas trade, saying the former Letran Knights star is currently injured and might need four months to recuperate after having surgery on his left ankle last Saturday.

“Injured naman 'yun. Siguro hindi naman kami papaya, matagal-tagal yun,” said Pineda.

Told that the long offseason can give the shifty Talk 'N Text guard all the time he needs to recuparate, the outspoken longtime Team Pacquiao official couldn't be swayed.

“Kahit na, matagal 'yun, saka kailangan namin big man,” he said.

Pineda admitted that the Carnival have been besieged with trade offers for the No. 2 pick overall.

“Halos lahat naman sila (nago-offer). Actually, hinihintay ko na nga lang last offer ng Rain or Shine eh. Tapos isa-submit ko na 'yun lahat kay (playing-coach) Manny (Pacquiao), para sila na ang mag-decide,” he said.

Asked if Talk 'N Text is dangling prolific star guard Jayson Catro who was reported to be have been previously offered for the KIA pick, Pineda shook his head.

“Hindi wala na. Eh kung iaalok nila yun eh di susunggaban ko agad 'yan,” he said.

Aside from Tautuaa and Roario, other marquee amateurs joining the PBA draft are Garvo Lanete, Simon Enciso, Scottie Thompson, Chris Newsome, Roi Sumang and streak-shooting Fil-Am guard Jawhar Purdy.
