STAR’s 97-83 victory over Mahindra on Wednesday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup lessened the blow on a Hotshots side that was missing not just one but two key players, after all.

Aside from Marc Pingris, the Hotshots also missed Justin Melton, who was out due to a hamstring injury he sustained in their last game against NLEX last Friday.

Hotshots coach Chito Victolero said the team expects the athletic playmaker to be sidelined for two to three weeks.

Jio Jalalon stepped up in Melton’s absence, leading all locals with 14 points, while Mark Barroca, Paul Lee, and PJ Simon added 11 points apiece in the lopsided victory over the Floodbuster.

“Next man up kami,” Victolero said. “Yun kay Ping naman, naka-adjust-adjust na kami. Yung kay Justin na lang (ang kailangan rin kami mag-adjust).”
