WHILE the PBA and its board remained tight-lipped on the selections made by the 12 teams in a special draft of Gilas Pilipinas cadets, word has reached that Rain or Shine has picked Mike Tolomia, NLEX has selected Ed Daquioag, while Meralco has opted for Roger Pogoy.

The three choices are based on information gathered from sources and are unofficial.

We have previously reported that Mac Belo, the consensus No. 1 pick from among 12 Gilas cadets made available under a 'pre-determined' draft order, was picked by Blackwater during a marathon board meeting on Thursday.

Kevin Ferrer was picked by newly crowned Governors Cup champion Ginebra, Arnold Van Opstal by San Miguel Beer, Matthew Wright by Phoenix and Jio Jalalon by Star, based on information from sources.

The choices won't be made official until these are announced on Sunday prior to the regular draft at the Robinsons Place Manila.

Tolomia, who led Far Eastern University to a UAAP championship in his final season in college, should be a good fit for a Rain or Shine team that had just given up Paul Lee in a trade to Star for two-time MVP James Yap.

The Elasto Painters reportedly went after Mark Cruz in a supposed trade with Phoenix that didn't push through, Cruz being a former player at Letran of new Elasto Painters coach Caloy Garcia.

Daquioag is expected to fight for minutes with Jonas Villanueva, Carlo Lastimosa and Kevin Alas in the NLEX backcourt under new coach Yeng Guiao, as well Pogoy in a crowded two spot at Meralco.

Only three teams - TNT Katropa, Alaska, and GlobalPort - have yet to make their choices under a selection process which the league board declined to reveal.

The remaining Gilas cadets in the pool are Von Pessumal, Fonso Gotladera, and Carl Bryan Cruz.
