SAN Miguel Beer flaunted its depth and firepower as it overwhelmed Alaska, 101-84, in their tune-up game on Wednesday at the Hoops Center in Mandaluyong.

Even without injured stars June Mar Fajardo and Marcio Lassiter, the Beermen were in cruise control the entire game against the Aces in a rematch of two conference finals last season.

Alex Cabagnot led the Beermen with 19 points, while backup big man Jay-R Reyes added 13 markers as he stepped up in the absence of Fajardo.

SMB acquisitions Brian Heruela and Ryan Araña also made significant contributions, tallying 12 and eight points, respectively.

“Parang hindi sila nawala, kasi maraming nag-step up,” Beermen coach Leo Austria said.

Vic Manuel and Erik Menk registered 15 points apiece to pace the Aces, who also missed three Gilas standouts in Calvin Abueva, Dondon Hontiveros, and Sonny Thoss.

Still, the Aces tried to rally from a 20-point deficit, but the Beermen held on and built another comfortable lead.
