SAN Miguel Beer is close to acquiring the services of a replacement import in the PBA Governors’ Cup in lieu of injured AZ Reid.

SMB coach Leo Austria, though, said they are still choosing from a list of names.

“Maraming pangalan. I cannot give you the details dahil kailangan pag-isipin muna namin yung kalaban namin,” he said with a chuckle in the post-game conference of SMB’s 106-103 win over Alaska on Wednesday night.

“Pero after two days, mayroon na kaming makukuha,” he added. “Marami (ang pinagpipilian) eh.”

Asked if they are looking for a returning import, Austria was open to the possibility.

“It depends. Kung mayroon kaming makukuhang magaling that could help us to win another championship, so siguro yun ang pipiliin namin,” he said.

Reid, who’s out with an Achilles heel injury, will welcome whoever comes in.

“I don’t wish nothing bad on our next import,” the former Best Import awardee said. “I hope he can come in and win. Even though I can’t play with him, I look at him as still my teammate .”

For himself, Reid has no choice but to play the waiting game.

“There’s nothing I can do right now. All I can do is rest,” he said. “I just got to be patient and see what happens. If I can come back, I’ll come back, if not, I won’t.”

“I’m eager to get back, but I’m not going to rush it,” he added. “But I’m here to support the team.”
