BARANGAY Ginebra showed its never-say-die spirit in a tune-up game, frustrating TNT KaTropa, 100-98, in their friendly on Saturday at the Upper Deck gym.

Shane Edwards threw down the go-ahead slam to complete the Gin Kings’ comeback from a sizeable deficit, before Scottie Thompson’s blocked Jayson Castro’s layup attempt on the other end to preserve the result.

Edwards, standing in for Justin Brownlee, finished with 25 points, but it was Japeth Aguilar and Sol Mercado who led the fightback, with Aguilar scoring 11 of his 15 points in the final frame, where Mercado churned out all his nine points.

Prince Caperal added 12 points before going out with a sprained ankle, while LA Tenorio was the other Ginebra player who scored in twin digits with 11 markers.

Jeremy Tyler led the Texters with a game-high 33 points, while Terrence Romeo continued to get back in shape as he chipped in 17 markers.

Troy Rosario and Castro were the other Texters who contributed in double-figure scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
