GlobalPort won't give up rights on Jarrid Famous, insists import a back-up plan

IT looks like GlobalPort simply just wants to have a Plan B as far as its import for the PBA Commissioner’s Cup is concerned.

Batang Pier Team manager Bonnie Tan insisted they intend to keep their rights on Jarrid Famous even though they have already acquired the services of Sean Williams as their reinforcement for the midseason tournament.

“Yes, tama kay Jarrid (ang spot as backup import),” Tan said in a text message on Sunday.

A virtual tug-of-war between the Batang Pier and Phoenix left Famous in limbo and searching for another job, which he appears to have reportedly secured in Puerto Rico.

While the Batang Pier are parading Williams, an NBA veteran who has shown flashes of his potential during his stint there, they are certainly not closing the door on Famous, who averaged 30.2 points and 23 boards in nine games for the Batang Pier in the 2015 Governors’ Cup.

The Batang Pier, though, are hoping they won’t have to resort to that as Williams is set to arrive early this week.

“Baka Tuesday dito na,” Tan said.
