TWO sister teams collide as the PBA opens its 42nd season with the Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

San Miguel Beer starts its title defense against a new-look Star as the league released its schedule for the all-Filipino conference on Monday.

The lone game on opening day tips off at 6:15 p.m. preceded by the opening ceremonies at 4 o’clock.

The regular double-header schedule starts on November 23 when Blackwater, featuring Gilas cadet star Mac Belo, takes on Phoenix, before TNT KaTropa faces Rain or Shine.

The Beermen lock horns against Alaska in a finals rematch on December 3, Saturday at the Big Dome.

Barangay Ginebra, gunning for back-to-back titles after ruling the Governors’ Cup champion, begins its campaign on November 27, Sunday, against the Texters.

The anticipated “Manila Clasico” between the Gin Kings and the Hotshots take place on Christmas night, Sunday.

Six out-of-town games in Antipolo, Lanao del Norte, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Cebu, and Angeles City are tentatively set

The 12 teams play a single-round eliminations, which run until January 29, Sunday, before the top eight teams advance to the playoffs.
