BACK-UP point guard Rudy Lingganay is hoping he has finally found a home at NLEX.

The 5-foot-11 guard has been big in the PBA Commissioner's Cup for the Road Warriors - the latest stop in a journeyman career that has included stops at Powerade, GlobalPort, and KIA Motors.

On Tuesday night, he came off the bench to score a career-high 19 points for the Road Warriors in a 91-96 loss to Rain or Shine, going 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc.

Although the Road Warriors fell short, the performance has brought renewed hope for the left-handed playmaker out of University of the East, who looked down and out after his unceremonious exit from expansion franchise KIA Motors over allegations of game-fixing.

Lingganay said he readily felt at home in coach Boyet Fernandez's system, saying he is grateful for the new lease on life - as well as the minutes - he is enjoying at NLEX.

“Nagkakataon lang sa sistema ni coach kasi nao-open ako. Kasi binibigyan naman ako ni coach ng playing time,” Lingganay said.

The native of Zamboanga found himself suiting up for NLEX after being traded by KIA in exchange for sophomore guard Eliud Poligrates just before the end of the Philippine Cup eliminations.

Before his falling-out with KIA, Lingganay was one of the few bright spots in the team as he averaged 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists during the team’s first five games in the all-Filipino conference.

When rumors of the game-fixing allegations started to float, Lingganay was placed in the unrestricted player’s list, elevated to the regular roster, before being traded to NLEX in the end.

The 28-year-old journeyman said his unexpected detour to NLEX was 'God's design.'

“Siguro si God lang  may alam niyan (on his stay with NLEX). Basta gagawin ko lang, ipu-push ko lang katawan ko saka kung paano makatulong sa team,” said the cat-quick point guard.
