AT a time when he is playin the best basketball of his PBA career, Barako Bull rising star RR Garcia might be forced to miss the remainder of the ongoing PBA Philippine cup due to a dislocated right shoulder.

The 25-year old pride of Zamboanga City sustained the injury while trying to challenge a jumpshot of Talk 'N Text star guard Jayson Castro in a game last December 3.

So frustrated was Garcia that he can’t help but sulk for days after the injury was confirmed, ruing its bad timing.

“Nalulungkot talaga ko, kasi ngayon pa ito nangyari. Hindi naman sa sinasbai ko na mabigat ang role ko sa team, pero gusto kong tulungan mga kakampi ko lalo’t maganda-ganda ang placing namin ngayon sa team standings,” said Garcia in a somber tone.

“Sana hindi ganun katagal ang injury ko, three weeks daw atleast eh. Dislocated siya. Hindi birong injury,” he added.

Since entering the PBA as the sixth pick overall of the 2013 PBA draft, Garcia has been showing his best form this season, averaging 17.1 points, 3 rebounds and 1.6 assists - almost thrice his averages in his first two years in the PBA.

“Dun ako nalulungkot, kung kailan ko nakuha yung kumpiyansa ko sa PBA, saka pa ko masa sideline tapos critical stage pa yung conference,” he said while shaking his head.

With Garcia injured, Barako was forced to relegate him to the restricted free agent list leading to the reactivation of James Forrester, who was picked by Ginebra ahead of him in the 2013 rookie pool.

“May plano siguro si God. So tatanggapin ko na lang habang hinihintay na gumaling ang injury,” he said.

Garcia bared that a surgery was ruled out but he is hoping that the injury will not be recurring like the experiences of past players who sustained the same shoulder damage.
