Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) vice chairman Ricky Vargas acnowledged San Miguel Beer governor Robert Non for working with the selection committee that recommended Tab Baldwin to be the next Gilas Pilipinas coach.

Vargas expressed his gratitude to Non Tuesday night when Baldwin was formally introduced as successor to Chot Reyes, less than 24 hours after hitting out at the SMB official in a dispute over officiating in the Talk 'N Text-San Miguel semifinal series in the PBA Philippine Cup.

“Robert Non was there (in the committee). Thank you for the work Robert has done and his cooperation,” said Vargas, also thegovernor of Talk `N Text.

Aside from Non, Vargas also thanked commissioner Chito Salud, chairman Patrick Gregorio, and SBP executive director Sonny Barrios for being part of the five-man committee which recommended the list of candidates to be considered for the Gilas coaching post.

“I wish to thank those who were members of the selection committee who met several times to work on the criteria. The commissioner was there as part of the selection committee. Chairman Pato was there as part of the selection committee.

“E.D (executive director) was there. Thank you for all the work you have done,” said Vargas in acknowledging one by one the members of the five-man panel.
