RAIN or Shine stalwart Raymund Almazan has been discharged from the hospital and is now resting back home.

Team alternate governor Edison Oribiena said the 6-foot-7 Almazan was sent home late Sunday night after being rushed to the Cardinal Santos Memorial Hospital due to dehydration following the Elasto Painters’ 92-88 win over previously unbeaten Star Hotshots in the PBA Governors Cup.

So dehydrated Almazan was after the game he couldn’t stand on his own at the team dugout inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum and had to be carried on a stretcher to the ambulance.

It turned out the Gilas Pilipinas big man already had a fever that same day, but needed to play as Rain or Shine was lacking in big men with veteran Beau Belga serving a one-game suspension.

“Pinauwi rin ng doctor late Sunday. Dehydrate lang siya,” said Oribiena. “May fever pa rin siya but he’s much better now.”

“May meds na prescribed and at the same, needs bed rest.”

Coach Caloy Garcia said Almazan is now doing fine, especially with Rain or Shine taking a rest on Monday and Tuesday.

“I think ok na siya. Pahinga lang ang kailangan,” Garcia informed SPIN.ph on Tuesday.

Almazan finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds in the team’s big win over the Hotshots as Rain or Shine clinched a third straight win and improved to 4-2.

Garcia said he expects Almazan to be back in harness when the Elasto Painters return to action on Sept. 6 against San Miguel.
