Almazan, Camson, Michael Miranda face possible suspensions, hefty fines after string of PBA scuffles

ERIC Camson and Raymond Almazan are expected to be summoned before the PBA Commissioner’s Office by next week after figuring in a scuffle that marred the Philippine Cup game between Rain or Shine and KIA on Saturday.

League Officer-In-Charge Willie Marcial said the two big men will likely be invited by Tuesday to give their side on the fracas that added color to the tightly-fought game at the Astrodome which the Picanto won, 98-94.

Fines will definitely be meted on the two, while possible suspension will still be discussed.

Camson and Almazan were both ejected after being whistled for flagrant foul 2, an infraction which has an automatic fine of P20,000.

“Pag-uusapan diyan kung madadagdagan yung fines at kung may suspension,” he said after the game.

Also to be summoned is NLEX big man Michael Miranda for likewise being called with a flagrant foul 2 in the Road Warriors’ 109-97 loss to reigning champion San Miguel on Friday night.

Camson and Almazan hit each other with an elbow as they battled for rebound midway in the second quarter of their game.

Television replay showed Camson landing an elbow on the face of Almazan first, before the Rain or Shine center retaliated with his own that triggered the fight where punches were likewise thrown.

Both men were separated and ejected following the F2 call.

The shouting match extended on the hallway leading to the dugout as the two players both hurled invectives at each other.

Miranda, meanwhile, also committed an F2 infraction after he kicked Chris Ross in the groin while attempting to get up from the floor after being pushed hard by the San Miguel player following a perfect pick he provided for a driving Kiefer Ravena in the second half of their game also at the Astrodome.
