IN a way, it was Talk ‘N Text’s way of paying tribute to injured teammate Ranidel de Ocampo.

The Tropang Texters's pregame routine included a prayer for the quick recovery of their team captain, who suffered a herniated disc injury while doing gym work during the team’s practice a week ago at the Moro Lorenzo gym.

“The team always has ‘RDO’ in mind during practice and in pregame talk,” said team manager Virgil Villavicencio during Talk ‘N Text’s Smartbro-PBA Philippine Cup game against Mahindra on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

After almost a week of confinement, the 33-year-old ‘stretch 4’ forward was finally allowed to go home by his doctors on Friday as he can already slowly stand and walk on his own.

But he’s scheduled to undergo regular home therapy to fully recover from his serious back injury.

“The doctors are actually surprised at how quickly he has recovered. Siguro it helps that he’s in shape and athletic,” said Villavicencio.

The Tropang Texters team manager doesn’t want to put a definite timeline on the Gilas Pilipinas stalwart’s return, although they hope he’ll be ready to play by the team the eliminations reach its homestretch.

With De Ocampo currently injured, veteran forward Harvey Carey has assumed the role as Talk ‘N Text’s team captain.
