Rain or Shine eyes solo lead against Magnolia in battle of streaking teams

RAIN or Shine shoots for its sixth win and the solo lead when it battles streaking Magnolia on Saturday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

The Elastopainters and the Hotshots battle in the second game of the Petron Saturday Special at 6:45 p.m.

Rain or Shine (5-1) will try to break out of a tie with TNT at first place when it tangles with Magnolia, a team which has won its last three games.

The Elastopainters have won two straight games including a 96-90 win over Globalport last May 20.

The Hotshots Pambansang Manok will be parading new import Curtis Kelly. A replacement for Vernon Macklin who is now playing in China, the 30-year-old Kelly, a 6-foot-10 cager, played college ball with Connecticut and Kansas State.

Magnolia has a 3-1 record and is looking to move closer to the leaders.

Alaska also looks to move up in the standings when it faces Globalport at 4:30 p.m.

The Aces have won their last four games for a 4-1 win-loss record. They beat San Miguel, 105-103, in Dumaguete with Vic Manuel hitting the winner at the buzzer.

The Batang Pier are in seventh place with a 3-3 card going into the game against the Hotshots Pambansang Manok.
