RAIN or Shine matriarch Margaret 'Mommy Yu' is definitely smiling up there.

The Elasto Painters made sure they win their first game following the death of their No. 1 fan by blasting Phoenix, 97-82, at the resumption of the PBA Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The team's fifth win in seven outings eased the grief of the family of Rain or Shine co-team owner Raymund Yu after losing his mother on Christmas eve.

'Mommy Yu' was 71.

"That was one thing I told the players, when you lose somebody especially your No. 1 fan, you have to find ways to have the family cheer up," said coach Caloy Garcia.

"And getting the win is the most important thing right now. Siguro masaya naman si Mommy right now."

The elder Yu died a few hours after Rain or Shine beat NLEX last December 23. His son Raymund watched the game at ringside together with long-time partner Terry Que.

He expressed his gratitute to the team for winning the game in memory of her mother.

"We miss her and we hope to make her proud with each win," he relayed to SPIN.ph.

"I think everybody is grieving right now, the Rain or Shine community kasi she really loves the team, she really loves the players," Garcia added.

"So I think this conference is dedicated to her."
