PBA planning in limbo as incoming chair Fernandez still among four board members absent in LA
Chito Narvasa's status as commissioner remains in limbo with the PBA board incomplete in its US planning session

LOS ANGELES – The PBA Board annual planning session remains a question mark whether it will push through or not especially with incoming chairman Ramoncito Fernandez not part of the bulk of delegation that arrived here Friday night (Saturday, Manila time).

As incoming chairman, Fernandez is supposed to preside over the meeting which has the status of commissioner Chito Narvasa’s term in its agenda.

With Fernandez’s absence, there won't be any formality in the transfer of the chairmanship post from predecessor Mikee Romero of Globalport to the NLEX governor.

No one among the board members present, not even Meralco alternate governor Ryan Gregorio, had an idea whether Fernandez would be coming over. But SPIN.ph learned Fernandez would likely try to come over by Monday at the latest.

Other than Narvasa's tenure, the planning session also covers the report on the season just passed and the league's calendar for the 43rd season that covers format, schedule, and import limit.

Outside of Fernandez, also not represented here by the team's board members were TnT Katropa, Phoenix, and Rain or Shine - all of which belonged to the bloc that refused to give Narvasa a new mandate as commissioner.

Among those present are San Miguel's Robert Non, Alfrancis Chua of Barangay Ginebra, Star's Rene Pardo, Siliman Sy of Blackwater,  Globalport's Eric Arejola, Dickie Bachmann of Alaska, and Bobby Rosales of KIA Picanto.

Meralco's Al Panlilio and TnT's Ricky Vargas begged off as the two are with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) team which made a presentation at the FIBA office in Geneva for its formal hosting bid in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
