FACING a three-point deficit, the South All-Stars turned to the tried-and-tested sniper Jeff Chan with the game clock ticking down to its final five seconds.

Chan botched the potential game-tying three-pointer and allowed the North squad to escape with a 154-151 victory on Sunday night, but swore Paul Lee fouled him in the play.

"Foul talaga 'yun. Nagalit nga si Comm (Chito Narvasa) e. May fine daw yung referees," the Rain or Shine guard said with a laugh.

Lee, his teammate at Rain or Shine, admitted fouling Chan in mid-air.

"Inaamin ko, meron talagang foul. Pinalo ko talaga 'yun. Ayaw na atang mag-overtime ng mga referees," said Lee, adding in jest that he was just following North head coach Yeng Guiao's instruction.

"Instruction kasi ni Coach Yeng, foul, e di tinawagan. Kasalan ng referee, ipapatawag sila ni comm sa Monday."

Nevertheless, both Chan and Lee are pleased to put on good show for the fans who came out in Sunday's match that capped off the mid-season spectacle.

"Okay lang. Ganun naman talaga. At the end of the day, masaya naman lahat tapos napasaya natin yung fans," Chan said.
